Dear Experts,
I've confirmed with ACS that they have mailed my assessment result to
Melbourne 10 days ago; yet, I haven't received it. As the DIMIA April
1st deadline is approaching near I am getting nervous as to the lost
mail that it may never arrive. Should I enquire ACS on Monday to
immediately re-send me the result again? Would this take long in their
part as I know it will only take a day or two for the mail from Sydney
to arrive? Or are there any other points of delivery that ACS could
inform me of so that I can get hold of my result ASAP? I am starting
to panic...
Thanking you,
Vincent

Hi Vincent,
If you are applying onshore as a graduate then if you don't receive your ACS
assessment in time you should apply for the temporary graduate subclass 497
visa by 31 March to preserve your pre-1 April rights. So no need to panic,
just have a form 1182 prepared in case you need to use it.
For ACS you'll just need to call them...
Cheers

To add to what George has said, if you are applying for one of the
offshore visas (eg 136) you need to have your migration application
proper in by 1 April - applying for a 497 won't extend the deadline
here. On the other hand, if you plan to apply for an onshore skilled
visa, then the 497 will be useful.
If it's not been received after 10 days then there is a good chance it's
lost - I'd call ACS asap and ask for a new one.
In the meantime, if planning to apply for a 497, you may want to do that
straight away and not leave it to the last day. Perhaps go to see a
good agent in Melbourne to make sure it's all done right - contact RILC
http://www.rilc.org.au for a recommendation.

What does the April 1st deadline refer to?
Are their regular processing deadlines for visa apps? Not come across this info yet.....
Cheers

Thank you George and Jeremy.
I have informed ACS about the situation and they will be sending out a
copy of the result again. I am keen on applying for the 497, however
if ACS was to, let's say for some odd reason, give me a negative
assessment then what will I do? My student visa does not expire until
the end of this year as I am currently enrolled in a masters program.
I believe the 497 will override any current visa that I hold. I
suppose only feasible way for me is if ACS expedites the result which
I know they won't. However, they've told me to wait a couple of days
to a week for the letter to arrive. Any further suggestions other
than to nervously wait for the letter? (biting my nails...)
Thanking you,
Vince
