ACS assessment

I just finished a 3 years BSc. in Information Security System at Eastern London Uni.

I was under the impression that ASC would nominate me for 2231-79 Computing professional (NEC) but I was told by a friend that I would need 4 years work experience in addition to my qualification.

Does anyone know if ASC has a recent graduate scheme (without work exp.) for non Australian qualifications?

Thanks

Re: ACS assessment

No, not that I'm aware of, the work experience exemption only applies to graduates from an Australian university. Professional experience that you gained previous to your degree will be counted though.

Hi nicrox

Here's a link to the ACS' guidelines for migration skills assessment.

Pages 4 - 6 outline the requirements to obtain a positive skills assessment.

Unfortunately, as you'll see, for people who hold approved qualifications, Groups A and B require four and six years work experience at a professional level; and Group C, which has a work experience exemption, applies only to recent graduates of Australian universities, reflecting DIAC's eligibility requirements for general skilled migration.

The only other pathway to a positive skills assessment is through the ACS' Recognition of Prior Learning option, which has been created for people who have extensive work experience, but are unable to address the formal qualifications requirement.

As Australian migration law stands at the moment, there is one skilled visa subclass that might be of interest to you, as it does not require applicants to hold a positive skills assessment -the subclass 457 Temporary Business (Long Stay) - Standard Business Sponsorship visa.

Best regards
