Accountant - just testing the water
hi all,
ive just returned from my first trip to Australia and I have to say I loved it. It’s left me torn now as to whether I’d like to move there.
Would I be able to get a visa based on this -
36 almost 37 😢 worked as an accountant for nearly 20 years. Only 3 as fully qualified, but degree educated for 10 years and passed my AAT at 21.
Has anyone with my background moved over? Is it doable?
or is my career one that doesn’t translate ?
thanks v much.

I would run your case past a registered migration agent as it isn't straight forward due to you only being pqe of three years as it might be an issue with points. Accountants need high points to be invited.

Do you know if the degree counts towards anything or the AAT which was an NVQ level 4 I think? That was back in early 2000s?

You get points for your highest qualification. The issue is experience. If it is deemed you only have three years experience as it is often done that you only start accumulating experience after degree qualification. That will be an issue. Accountants are a capped occupation. That means only a set amount are allowed in per year. They pick these from those with the highest points.

Thanks - I did a test on points. Scored 79 I think. Will do it again to be sure.

No idea - just answered the questions. I do have a wife whose a vet nurse. Maybe that?
does it not sound right?
what would a fully qualified accountant with a degree normally score? 20 years work experience and a native English speaker.

basically I have 3 degree and above qualifications. Dating from 2001.
I did all all of these part time whilst working.
