Is 52 too old
My wife and I are 52 yrs old and want to emigrate to Australia. I am a degree qualified engineer and have worked in the aerospace industry for 25yrs as a design engineer on aircraft systems, including jet engine systems design.
Is it possible for someone my age to get a visa for living and working in Australia? What are my chances of finding work in my particular field?

Not a huge amount of work - I imagine the main employers for you would be engine manufacturers, Rolls Royce GE Honeywell etc, and they sure don't have design centres here in Oz.
If you can work as an independent consultant for a few years that might help - others will have better advice than me on that. Or, how about a move into academia - lecturing on aeronautical engineering?

The cut off age for PR skilled visas is 45, however you may be able to secure an employer sponsorship. It's a temporary visa for up to 4 years, which may be extended at the end of your sponsorship. Unfortunately, PR is difficult once you get over the magic 45.
www.immi.gov.au will give you the visa types you may qualify for.
