Default 457 visa - things to think about

If you're coming to Oz on a 457 visa a couple of things to think about...

Make sure your if you sign any contract with the company that you have at least a three month clause in the contract should they wish to terminate you ( if you can) This may not be great should you wish to resign but if they want to terminate you it will give you some time.

Think about the costs of relocating yourself and your family..it's not cheap, we paid for the move over here ourselves and now in hindsight realize we should have had something in the contract with the company in regards to them paying your relocation costs back to the Uk. The company is only responsible for your flights out of here and if you haven't had something written into the contract they won't be liable for any other relocation costs.

We thought the job my Oh had was a sure thing but changes in management resulted in him loosing his job with no warning at all, we have been unable to file an unfair dismissal claim as the company has less then 100 employees!

Luckily he has found something else, but just wanted to warn everyone to check the contracts and try to get the above written into them, protect yourselves and the investments you have made getting here in the first place.
