Smile 457 visa - a question

Hello all,

I'm quite new to this site so excuse the lack of knowledge!

My oh is possibly going to be sponsored on a 457 visa and I have read some really useful threads regarding the many questions we have.

One area that was a little grey to us however was the 'schools' situation. My daughter is just 5 and we would need to find a place for her as soon as we arrive, do we have to pay fee's in any shape or form? We probably wouldn't be educating her privately but are there fees to pay anyway?

Thank you to anyone that has any information that could help us.

Jo

Hi Jo,

School starts in a couple of weeks here so you'd want to get organised if hoping for a private school - waiting lists etc. Yes fees are payable for public schools in NSW and some other states but I'd be talking to your schools now.

Cheers,

Thanks....this is such a new area for us and we feel that we know absolutely NOTHING!

We are going out to Brisbane in March for a reccie and to confirm, with the 457 starting when we get back at beginning of April.

As we don't know know where we will be living in Brisbane, how/what is the best way of choosing schools when we don't even know where we will be living? Could you recommend any websites similiar to Ofsted that they use in Australia?

I am getting worried now that we are going to struggle to find a good school when we will be looking to arrive July/August time.

Thank you again for all your advice.
