457 Visa - How long will it take?
I appreciate that this is a bit like 'how long is a piece of string', but I've finally got all the relevant forms, documents and paperwork submitted and the agent has said the formal application is going in on Monday.
Bearing in mind the proximity to Christmas, does anyone have any idea on how long it will take for it to come through (assuming no hitches)?
It's a 457 visa for Perth, with my partner on it too.
Thanks

Yes it is exactly how long is a piece of string. I have seen some 457's settled in a couple of weeks, others might take 6 months.
Average might be two or three months. But you might be above averae or below average so it really is all guesswork.

I am currently going through this process, I asked my migration agent the same question and she said about a month!

Can I apply for a 457 onshore? What are the requirement for such a visa? What are the advantages? I am currently on a bridging visa A waiting for a decision on my 885.

Agent thinks 5-6 weeks
I was hoping more like 2
Will keep you posted.... good luck to everyone

A 457 is a temporary visa. An 885 is permanent. Why would you want a temp visa in preference to PR?

I'm in the same boat, wife and I are waiting on a 457 that was submitted on 1 October.
We were told 2 to 4 weeks by the agent/employer and my notice period in my current job expires on 29 October so I'm hoping it's done by then otherwise the days will drag even more sat at home earning no cash!

So, my application was officially lodged today... despite being told it was done 10 days ago.
Anyway, the countdown begins now!
