457 Temp Visa - GOV jobs?
I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it.
If you are on a temp visa, can you take up government jobs?

It would be unusual for a government to sponsor for a temp visa.
Even if you are a spouse of a 457 holder, and have work rights, most state governments normally require PR. Federal government requires citizenship.

We have seen a number of 457 holders working for the the state and federal governments but always through a labour hire firm.

Not positive about the other states, but Queensland will employ you in temporary positions, on a temporary visa. You have to have PR to get a Permanent position. Having said that, some of the temp jobs I'm looking at are for 5-6 years.........
