Default 457 to PR thru ENS without Degree?

Hi,

I am presently on a 457 visa working for an investment bank in Sydney. I have been sponsored for 14 months so far and am wanting to go for PR next year. I have just found out from HR that my company will only nominate employees for PR through ENS if they have a tertiary qualification. Apparently this is due to legal difficulties when someone tries to get PR without a degree. I have 6 years experience in banking but I do not have any tertiary qualifications i.e. a degree. After keeping up to date on all matters on this forum this is the first time I have heard anything about this. Is this actually true? If I try get PR by myself some time in the future I understand that I would have to do a skilled test and I doubt if i would meet the criteria without a degree. If it is only a policy with my employer I may lobby it with them. Thanks for any help.

There are no "legal difficulties" once you have clocked up 2 years on your 457. Unless your employer doesn't want to sponsor you - different situation.
