Hi,
We are the Jan 2010 GSM 175 Visa applicants and we have been granted the Permanent visa in April 2010. However only VISA evidancing on our passport is still pending. Although I had lot of hopes of finding a job in OZ (I am an IT Project Manager) it is fading day-by-day. So can anyone tell me if I can apply for 457 through my employer and still make it to Australia and this is possible. That means I don't want 175 and instead 457 is more than enough as I don't have any plans to settle down in Australia.
Regards,

Why would you go through the process of applying for a temporary visa to work for one specific employer when you alreayd hold a permanent one to work for anyone? If there is an employer in Australia willing to sponsor on a 457, he can employ you a lot easier, quicker and cheaper on a 175.

If you already have a 175 you can work for any employer.

If you don't intend settling in Australia why the hell did you go through the stress and expense of applying for a visa? Hells teeth people like you really really tick me off.
Yeah go for it, apply for a 457, why not? Obviously more money than sense. May as well apply for a tourist visa whilst you're at it.

Why anyone in their right mind would apply for sponsorship when PR is an option, is completely beyond me!

It doesn’t even make sense... you want a 457 because your are afraid you will come to Australia without a job (i.e.: you’d have to look for one). Yet to get a 457 you have to look for a job anyway (but from overseas – so harder) and then you have to find one who will sponsor you?
I seriously think they should start IQ testing before handing out Visas.
