Hi JAJ,
thanks for that. I called DIMIA twice and they told me it's one month.
So this means I should get the paperwork this month.

That explains by the time we got ours there was only three weeks to collect the information and submit! Certainly a tight timeline! You really have to be organise and anticpating its arrival. Good luck to you all doing your final stage!

I would suggest the following, but do not claim to be an expert!
1. Have as much evidence as possibly to start with already sorted and photocopied and certified where necessary all ready to post off before you leave. I suppose your tickets going overseas will be the last bit of evidence you can add, and you could do that before you left.
2. Our police check only took 10 days, though they say 30. If you really have to you can submit your application with a letter to say what is missing and why - ie police check not back in time.
3. Apply for a police check before you fo to England because I think that was more than 30 days, even though it might be sooner. Get it sent to some rellies/friends where you are staying and bring it back with you.
Then as soon as you get home, your letter may be waiting or just arriving and you will have everything, just need to fill in the few forms they send with you. They had a special form for the police check - so when it came baack on the top of it, it said it was a name check for immigration and visa purposes. You can probably get one of these from online at the dima website.
Hope this helps, remember, no expert and someone may be able to offer better advice! Good luck!

Re: 2nd stage PR Pollyana
I am in oz on a temp spouse visa and havent done any research yet into process to become permanent as got 18 monts to go yet. I have already recieved a letter from the governement stating they will contact me in approx 2 years and to let them know if my address changes.
Are they any links that have already been discussed on what I should keep and do etc to get the permanent visa.
Presume keep all evidence of relationship ie flights, cards, receipts etc but do i get a police check in oz and uk when the time comes? and do i then get more stat decs etc.
Sorry if this has already been covered and appreciate anyones help.

Maybe a bit off topic, but how did you apply for the Dutch Police Check from Australia? My provisional spouse visa was granted on the first of March 2005, so I expect to be asked for the 2nd stage documents somewhere in the beginning of 2007. I am going back to Holland in August for 2 months so I think I need the dutch police clearance to go with my stuff for the 2nd stage. They (dutch ministry of justice) say they need the DIMIA letter before they can process the application for the police check, so how did you do it??
Thanks for your help,
