2 year PR requirement for citizenship application! holiday?
I'm hoping to apply for my citizenship on 1 March 2006, exactly 2 years
from the date of grant of my residence. I'm hoping to make it to the 21 March 2006 ceremony! The only concern I have is that I took a 4 week trip outside of Australia during this 2 year period. This trip was taken purely as a holiday for the purpose of visiting my family. While I was away I maintained my place of residence in Australia, my permanent job and all commitments in Australia. Any ideas on whether or not this will effect my application date? Does the Department of Immigration process each application on its own merits or is there a hard and fast rule on this type of situation? Art |

JUst have to wait another 4 weeks before applying. Friend of ours was in the same situation, but she applied thinking it was ok. they called her and told her her app would be put on hold until she met the requirements. She waited 4 weeks and called up and booked the interview. They told her they couldn't do ANYTHING until she met the requirements. Also where did you get the 21st of March from??? I applied for citizenship 2 weeks ago and have my interview with DIMIA in Sydney on the 4th of April (earliest time they had). SO once thats out the way it's just a matter of the next ceremoney KS |
