189 VISA - points
Hi
I submitted my EOI (ED Nurse) last week with 65 points. Any idea of waiting times to be asked to apply?
I didn’t gain max points in my Academic IELTS so could potentially resit the General Exam and hope to gain max points in that, therefore increasing my points to 70. It will be August before I can realistically resit it and then wait for results etc......the question is should I book it or just hope they take more 65. Point applications??
thanks

With only 65 points you will be waiting a long time for an invite as invitation rounds are being exhausted on higher point EOI's.
An alternative would be state sponsorship if any state is sponsoring your occupation.

Re: 189 VISA - points
Thanks Old Sparkles
190 visa not an option as we are going to Melbourne where my family live, also have 2 young kids so don't want to move them schools etc more than I have to.
Will definitely go and sit the General IELTS and aim for max points - I didn't realise it was 10 more so that would hopefully increase my chances of being asked quicker. It's so annoying they don't recognise the difference between the General/academic scores - all money making i think!!!
here's hoping I don't screw up the IELTS!!

Can I alter my EOI if I get Superior result or do I need to resubmit a new application?

Your EOI is time stamped when you edit the points score so keep that in mind.
As others have mentioned, you can try PTE as well - people seem to be getting all 90s far more often than you'd expect! Not sure how you score perfect in writing but I've seen it quite a few times already.

Re: 189 VISA - points
65 points for subclass 189 might take a while to get selected at especially seeing how they've been selecting over the last 6 months. However they seem to be selecting at 70 points in the June round so if you're not in a hurry you can wait it out and try for your higher English score?
