Default 189 Visa - Advice

Dear all,

I would like to apply for a 189 visa for me and my family to emigrate to Australia and would appreciate any help with the queries I have. This is where I currently am and the points I definitely have and where there is some degree of subjectivity

Age - 32 - 30 points
Shortage Occupation - Mechanical Engineer - Degree qualification confirmed by Engineers Australia - 15 points
English Ability - Superior (PTE 90, 90, 90, 90) - 20 points

I then decided (although not compulsory) to have my relevant skilled occupation employment check by Engineers Australia who deemed that I have experience in this occupation from October 2008 to April 2018, over 9 years ... which means another 15 points therefore a grand total of ..... 80 points which I have updated on my EOI.

My questions are as follows

- How powerful is that conclusion from Engineers Australia for the DIBP to accept my work experience as an engineer? Is there anything else I should demonstrate to the DIBP to aid in showing my work experience (besides the same documents I sent to Engineers Australia)?

- In my first job role from October 2008 to January 2011, I have my P60's/P45, all my pension letters and a reference/duties letter from my previous manager. What I lack is my pay slips over that period. Would this be a problem or should P60's suffice? If it were a problem what could I do to mitigate my lack of pay slips?

I guess I am always worried as I did my first job for around 2 years and the next job for 7 years on the dot. If they were not happy with the job I did for 2 years then that's 5 points dropped and my application out of the window right?

If anybody has been in a similar boat to me your advice would be most appreciated.

Kind Regards,

G

The points advice from Engineers Australia will be supportive.

Tax forms should suffice. As long as your reference letters confirm the dates of employment and you have some kind of job description.

What does "around 2 years" mean?

2 years and 6 months to be precise, therefore my total work experience is 9.5 years.

Then I would assume Home Affairs would be satisfied, if everything else is in order. The problem would be if (for instance) you had 1 year and 6 months and wanted to claim it as two.

I put in the exact dates with my EOI and it self calculated the points, like you've mentioned on another thread to me before, just be honest.

Home affairs will take the work experience calculation from EA not a problem.

Hi Everybody!

Good news, I got invited to apply for the 189 visa. A few things left to do is getting police certificates, and having pre-medical performed.

I am currently a serving member of the British Army Resevre, would anybody have any experience as to what documents I can show the case officer of my military character/service etc?

Thanks

Not 100% certain but I think its the Discharge Certificate they will be most interested in, rather than your military service. Form 1399 might be relevant.

I’m still a serving member of the military. I have to leave during application? Seems a bit extreme to me.

I'm not 100% sure and its an unusual topic so might be best to check with an agent as to how you apply whilst you are still serving.
