189 subclass tax residency
Hi,
Are you considered an Australian resident for tax purposes when you first enter Australia with visa subclass-189 (Skilled Independent)?
Or does the 183+ day rule still apply and you are only considered tax resident after spending 183+ days in Australia?
Thanks.

If you enter Australia on a PR visa and start living here then thats the day you become a tax resident - when you do your tax return that;s the date you need to enter.

Maybe have a look at ATO Tax Ruling 98/17.
Best regards.
