186 plumber licensing
 

Hi has anyone got experience of applying for a 186 de as a plumber?

If so we are in NSW my partner has his provisional licence (cert 3) and is just about to enrol in Tafe to start his cert 4.

We just need to know if a provisional plumbing license meets the licensing and registration requirements for this visa application ?

It's so hard to find any direct answers anywhere! Even out Migration agent can't work it out, so looking for anyone with experience

I'm not surprised you are finding it hard - plumbing is a licensed trade and requires a full license. A provisional license is not a cert III and a cert IV will not help with licensing - practical experience working under supervision is what is needed I think (going from sparky requirements not plumbing).

Anyway, if your OH has a valid skills assessment then have a look at other visa options if you have enough points. Only other people I can think of talking to are these - https://skillshortagesolutions.com.au/

Thanks for your fast reply.

Im pretty sure a cert 4 in plumbing gets you your full licence in NSW.

We are currently 1.5 years in on a 482, we have submitted an EOI for a 189, 491 and 190. We are just itching to get PR ASAP with everything that's going on at the moment, feeling anxious about everything!

Trade licenses are based on cert III. For overseas trained tradies, your skills assessment gets you a provisional license, valid for 3 years. That allows you to work under supervision whilst you get signed off - typically around 12 months or less. Provisional licenses cannot be renewed.

No idea who your agent is, but if they can't find the answer it may be time to get a new one!
