176 Visa Validation process

Hi Everyone,

My husband is flying to Qld Saturday and myself and the children will be following in a few weeks. My question is does he/we need to take any papers to validate the visa? The reason I ask is that there is no stamp in our passports and I wonder how the validation works...if my husband takes the visa papers I won't be able to because he'll still be in Oz and I am having a last minute panic that we'll stopped on arrival without the relevant information.

Thanks in advance guys

They dont require visa papers stamps they only require your Passport that has been used for the migrant purposes.

Hope this helps

I recently arrived with family and immigration passport control told us as we entered Australia.

Hi,

We have just been through this process. All you need is your passports. Everything is on computer so no need to take anything.
Because I had just got new passports for me and the kids, we took the old ones with us which was lucky as the forms I sent off for the kids to inform them of the change of passport number hadn't been processed yet. We had to show the old passports as well.
Once we got there, I called the immigration office and asked if I needed to go in and stamp our passports and was told it is a personal choice and not neccessary so we didn't.

Have a good time.

Thank you for your replies. Have you found that other people want confirmation of your visa status? healthcare, schools etc...do you just show them a copy of your visa grant notice?
So much to think about and suddenly so little time!

No when your passport gets activated when arriving you are basically on the system.
Everyone Medicare, driving licensing, tax people and centrelink knows your a resident.
That easy

We had no issues but we did take a copy of the grant letter just in case. I also gave a copy to my sons who travelled later than us, again they didn't need it.

Not all visa approvals for Australia are mentioned in a passport, many are purely electronic.

Thanks for all your responses. There is nothing in our passports so must all be electronic. He arrives Monday so fingers crossed all goes smoothly.

It could be your terminology but do you mean it needed to be activated by the end of the month? When we talk about visas running out we would usually be referring to the expiry date. To activate a visa then yes you just need to fly in, pass through immigration and then fly out.

Hello ppl, I need some information. I have applied 175 in May 2009. It was in the priority 5 for all these years, recently I applied for SS from NSW and it was positive. NSW has sent the form 1100 to DIAC. My question is to know how much time does DIAC take to convert 175 to 176? How much did it take in your case? Please let me know, this is very important to me and I am super nervous.
