175 concerns!
Hi everyone,
not sure if anyone can offer me any advice.
my partner and i are applying for the 175 visa as it is our only option if we want to emigrate to Queensland to be near other family members.
If we were willing to go to Melbourne or Western Australia, we would be eligible to apply for the 176 SS visa..
however, hardly anyone i have spoken to applies for the 175 visa and question us when we say we are going for the 175!
is it a bad idea? and what are our obligations if we go for the 176?
is the waiting time that much difference?
would really appreciate any info!!

Re: 175 concerns!
176 made sense when there were categories of 175 applications being put on hold forever. 2009 it was I think, but now you are not looking at years difference, so what's the point in one extra application to the state if you are eligible for an independent. Bar some serious circumstances (as in must migrate before X) a few months here or there in the whole process are not going to make any difference.

There is definitely nothing wrong with a 175 visa. We got this one in about 6 or 7 months two years ago. It saved the bother of applying for state sponsorship, another step in the process. If you have enough points for the 175 it is a perfectly good visa and comes with no conditions or "moral obligations".

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think that plasterer is on the Queensland statesponsorship list.
