12/18 month calculation Australia tourist visa

Hi urgent help required..

My mother has 12 month stay multiple entry tourist visa(600 class) and would like to stay in Australia for 12 month from 17th Jan 2020
Visa expire/must not arrive date in VEVO is 31 august 2020, so is she can live here?
Visa granted on 1st august 2017
She stayed here from 26-10-2018 to 18-06-2019 only. she is outside Australia since then. (more than 6 month)
No further stay condition in Visa latter also.

Based on what you have written, that should be fine.

Just note she will not be "living here", but visiting.

But yes, she can stay for up to 12 months even if she arrives on 30 August provided the DIBP agent gives her that long on arrival. Her visa says "must not arrive after", not must not stay after 31 August.

Hi...Thank you very much for clerity. Still, one more thing to know what is meaning of expiry date shown in VEVO? in this case visa expiry date and must not arrive date both are same.(31-08-2020)

Also, how they calculate 18 month, ??because they said she can stay here 12 month of any 18 month. so when to start 18 month?

Thanks...

Can’t answer any of your questions but Dorothy is definitely a female and not a “Sir”

She should get a new 12 month stay period when she arrives. Clearly, confirm that in VEVO when she has arrived.

It means that if she is offshore the visa will expire on that date and can't be used. It's a rolling 18 month period, so a total of 12 months in any rolling 18 month period.

Re: 12/18 month calculation Australia tourist visa

Thank you very much Paul for help. This thing is confusing for may be for many peoples.
Now I understand that currently she is offshore so, Vevo is showing 31st Aug 2020 as visa expiry, but now if she enter Australia on 17th January 2020, and if I check VEVO again then visa expiry date will be around 15th January 2021,because she is already outside australia for more than 6 month ,so this time her stay period is 12 month as per 18 month cycle.Am i right?

Re: 12/18 month calculation Australia tourist visa

VEVO will show the default 12 month stay. It does not calculate the 18 month period, that is your responsibility.

It's not wise to be absolutely sure about anything. As Paul has advised, check on VEVO once your mother has arrived in Australia, that's the only way you can be absolutely sure.

Again, she will NOT be living in Australia. She will be VISITING Australia.

As for the VEVO, Paul has already answered that. She will arrive in January 2020 and be able to stay (at the discretion of the border guard) until January 2021.
