Default 10 points for work experience? Urgent!!

I wonder how hard it is to get 10 points for work experience? I need
this to meet the pass mark, which is 115 now. I received a positive
skill assessment from ACS last month, but I was disappointed. Although
I have IT degree ( U.S) and 3 years 9 months of IT work experience(
U.S ) in Java, I did not receive MODL at all.
I also have the following questions.
(1) Should I go with Australian sponsored option in case I did not
receive 10 points for work experience? I have cousins who are PR
living in Australia.
(2) Which one takes longer? Skill independent or Australian Sponsored

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Joe

To get 10 points for work experience, you need to have 3 years out of
the 4 before application experience in your nominated occupation or a
'closely related' one.

If your ACS assessment has a date of effect, work experience has to be
after that date (same applies to meeting the basic requirements).

Sponsored is a safer option than a borderline skilled independent
application. You can't change your mind after applying, unless you
want to lodge a new application. But your cousins will only be able
to sponsor you if they live in a 'designated' area (ie, away from the
areas around Sydney, Brisbane and Perth).

There's not a great deal of difference usually. There's more
paperwork with sponsored, which can add a couple of months to the
process in some cases.

Why do so many people think US degrees are so good?

US PEOPLE tend to think that they are a "cut above the rest".

JAJ,
Thanks you for responding.

I don't think my ACS assessment has a date of effect.
Actually, my uncle is going to sponsor me. I understand he needs to
fill out Form 40 and 28 for me. What kind of document do I need to
show for the "Proof of Relation to sponsor"?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Joe

I did not mean US degrees are so good. I posted it for my information
only. I am sorry if it meant to you that way.
