Unhappy [Desperate!] ACS not approving MS Certs for Group B?? That was my only option!! :(

Hi everyone, I’m kinda desperate!

On 25th September I applied for an assessment, hopping to get a Group B approval. I read that ACS considers MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer) as suitable for Group B (as long with MCSE). I do not have MCSD but i have the UPGRADED certification, which is MCPD. MCSD is for .NET 1.1 and MCPD is for .NET 2.0. You have to do an UPGRADE exam if you’re a MSCD to have an MCPD.

I hold the following IT Certifications and have 7 years of experience.
- Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD): Enterprise Application Developer
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .Net 2.0: Distributed Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .Net 2.0: Web Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .Net 2.0: Windows Applications
- Sun Certified Web Component Developer for J2EE 1.4 (SCWCD 1.4)
- Sun Certified Business Component Developer for J2EE 1.3 (SCBCD 1.3)
- Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform, SE 5.0 (SCJP 5.0)
- Advanced Coldfusion MX Developer

I cannot understand why I received the following e-mail today from ACS:

“After reviewing your application, it would appear that you will not meet the education criteria for assessment. With this in mind, I would like to provide you with the opportunity to change your assessment to an RPL Application.”

I’m very very worried, as I do not meet the requirements for RPL and I was sure they were going to accept the new MCSD certification as Group B.

Please any suggestions would be much much appreciated.

Thank you!

We are using Peter Chiam of www.ptlabs.com.au as our agent. He specialises in IT/RPL/ACS applications and if anyone can advise you he can.

Have a search for one of his posts and send him a mail.

Peter is fantastic and I cannot praise him highly enough. He got us through the RPL and was brilliant.

Good luck

Trish

Hi,

If you don't have a standard degree in IT you have to use RPL path. Here you only have microsoft and Java certifications only.

The ACS are Rigid in only recognising specific vendor certifications so you have 2 choices:

Wait until you have 8 years relevant IT experience and apply for RPL (assuming you do not have any non-it qual that is equivalent to an Australian Diploma or higher). OR get your MCSD and then apply straight away.
