Default GOING TO SCHOOL ON A VISTORS VISA

We are over here on a visitors visa awaiting for our spouse visa to be granted. My son is at senior school and we need to get him settled in school as soon as possible.
We seem to be getting mixed messages regarding what we can and can't do, from
he can't go to school at all,
he might be able to,
you will have to pay, etc etc etc,

we are going to look at a few schools this week so hopefully they will have some more concrete answers but i thought maybe someone may have been through something similar.

thanks

Your son will not be able to go to school for more than 3 months on a tourist visa.

For those three months, I am not sure about the fees. In some states people on a temporary employer visa do not have to pay fees, but I am not sure if that would extend to a tourist visa. If you are in NSW then you are definitely going to be paying fees for those three months.

Details of public school fees in NSW are here.

http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/media/...studntfees.pdf

They quote the fees for students on Visitor's visas so it must be possible (in NSW at least).

And here's some info on schooling for kids on tourist visas in QLD:

Yup http://www.eqi.com.au/programs/tourist-visa.html is the place to go - going to cost you either $260 or $300 per week to a max of 12 weeks.

I *think* that NSW school fees can be waived if you can present evidence that a permanent visa has been applied for, this is certainly the case for a child visa.
