Default Is "traditional style" nursing not recognised?

Please can anybody help.
I have received a letter from the ANC this morning requesting a certified copy of my nursing graduation certificate .
I do not have a nursing graduation certificate as I did the traditional style nursing qualifying in 1984.
The only certificates that I have are English National Board Certificates which I have already sent.
Does this mean that they are only assesing skils of nurses who are educated to degree or diploma level
I have tried to contact them but of course with the time difference there was nobody there to speak to.They asked me to ring back on Monday.
Please can anybody help

Default RE:Nursing graduation certificate

Yvsie

I have just sent a fax to ask for further advice.
I have informed them that I do not have a graduation certificate as I do not have a diploma or degree in nursing!.
I have already sent them copies of my ENB nursing and midwifery certificate and a certified copy of my entries on the registers and I assumed that these would be acceptable.
I must say I am bit bewildered.
They are also asking for transcripts of my training which the NMC sent to them on the 1 May 2003.
I am not a happy bunny at the moment.
I also can't understand why they didn't contact me by email asking for further info.
It just doesn't make sense.

I've just Registered in NZ and I thought that it was difficult. I originally qualified as an RMN in 1984, then after a conversion course to RGN in 1986. I had to get the Schools of Nursing to send transcripts of training to the NZ Council - and yep they had becoming College's then Universities. You will have to get on the phone and track the ownership of the Schools of Nursing and speak to the clerk who deals with transcripts. Took me four months.

You don't need to be a graduate, though if you want promotion in Oz I imagine you'll need it as they all are now.

Hi Roger

Thanks for your advice.
I have indeed contacted the Uni Of Salford which is apparently where my nursing records are archived.
They will provide transcripts of training(at a cost of £25)so it looks like that will be the next step that I have to take.
I am not sure why the ANC will not accept the transcripts form the NMC seems a bit strange and a bit of a pain!!

Thanks once again and I wish you luck in NZ

Diane

Guess what.
I managed to speak to somebody at the ANC and lo and behold when they pulled my file out there were my ENB nursing certificates attached to my appplication!!!

I am now feeling rather relieved but still a little bit astounded.

If our applications are scrutinised , how come they don't see 2 certified copies of nursing certicates attached to my application!!

Hi
Sorry to barge in like this,
I am a nurse in the same position!

Isn't it a shame that the Uni of Salford don't sent the transcripts
direct to you, then you could ensure they arrive to the ANC at the
same time!

I am registered with Royal College of nursing and they will have to
receive my nursing transcripts from UoS, at the same time as me
sending their forms back. So the RCN can then send the registration
verification and the transcripts at the same time as you send your ANC
application form. Have I got this correct?

If I have then I'm sure they could make this simpler somehow!
If I haven't then could someone explain?

Hi Dee

I am a bit confused why the RCN needs to supply a transcript of training do you mean the NMC?

Hi Dee

Yes I agree it is very confusing but I think that it works like this.

Get the Uni of Salford to send your transcripts directly to the ANC and also to the nursing board in the state/territory in which you intend to work ie WA - Nurses Board of Western Australia.

Ask for verification pack from NMC(has to be done online).

http://www.nmc-uk.org/cms/content/Re...orities%20.asp

When it arrives after approx 7-10 days complete the form .You can ask them to provide verification to ANC and up to 4 other nursing boards if you wish. This costs £34.

Download skills assessment form from the ANC.

http://www.anc.org.au/application.htm

Complete and send off with payment ,all necessary documentation and a covering letter explaining where your trancripts are be being sent from and also that you have asked the NMC to provide details of verification that you are on the register.

I think thats about it.
I hope that I haven't forgot anything

Best of luck with your application

Diane

Instead of ringing Uni of salford, next time I'll ring you!

Just one thing though, Could I send my ANC application form at any
time while the rest of the process is on going?

Thanks for your help
Dee

Hello Bowks,
One more thing is I would get a copy of the transcript sent to yourself as you may need it at some later date and you won't then have to faff around getting another copy. ( I think you have to send in another copy with your actual visa application form).

Good Luck
