Default Yet another Eoi/ pr question?

We submitted our Eoi online last week and it was selected less than 12 hours later yet we have not had any contact from anyone, we were just wondering how long they usually take to review the case?

We had quite a high points score 160iirc so imagine that's why it was selected quickly.

The London embassy advised use we can travel and work on a temp visa whilst waiting for our pr visa but this will be an expensive option as basically could pay for the temp then get the pr one granted 2 weeks later.

My employer wants us there ASAP as there desperate but we still have a few loose ends to tie up aswell, anyone got any timescales for how long we are looking at?

Thanks in advance

Ben

you will need to complete your ITA when then send it to you and then submit it to NZ house London within 4 mths, have you medicals and submit them for appraisal. As you already have a job offer you should get a case officer fairly quickly but as it is now coming up to Christmas you may not hear anything to the New Year. Once you have submitted your ITA and as long as you have sent in everything they have asked for it could be as quick as 6wks or as long as 3-4 months if they need to ask for more documents or your medicals highlight potential problems.

we submitted at the end of Oct and have medicals referred, additional information regarding name change requested and are still waiting. My husband is already working in NZ on a year's temp work visa which was issued same day in Wellington Immigration office as he needed to start within the week.

Thank you for the reply has cleared up a few things.

We have our medicals booked for early January as will need them for either the pr or temp visa and I travel all over Europe with work at the moment so thought it was easier to get them done and out the way whilst at home over Xmas etc. so just hoping that it's all done within the 3 months of them being done.

What will happen now are the preliminary checks on the information you supplied on the EOI. How long it takes will depend on several factors. For example. Whether or not your qualifications are easily recognised. Checking out the employer. Also, at this time of year, it will depend on how many NZIS staff are available to check new applications.

We had quite a high points score 160iirc so imagine that's why it was selected quickly.
No.
Selections from the EOI pool happen once a fortnight on a Wednesday. Any EOI with 140 points or over has an automatic selection from the EOI pool.

True. It is more money. Many of us that have had job offers have resorted to a temp work visa to take up the employment.

anyone got any timescales for how long we are looking at?
People will be able to give you their personal time-lines, however each case is stand alone. There is no way to know how long your application will take from selection from the EOI pool to the Resident stickers hopefully appearing in your overseas passports.

well my qualifications are easily recognised and traced as you can do it online, problem is 99% of people have no idea what i do and it never fits into a catergory well so was hard to explain in the little space provided on an eoi form, hopefully they contact me or the employer so it can be explained.

thanks again.

You have no need to worry as NZ Immi use a referal to specialists system.

Tiz so.

1 - To check the quals match the job offer.

2 - To check that the overseas qual matches the NZ (AMZSCO) standard. Not less than and not more than.

Goodness me but I do like your style..

NZIS doesn't work like this.

They match like for like. No more and no less.

Yeah i understand that but to be honest the NZ equivalent of the qualifications i have are a lot harder to get than they are in europe. So is good news for me.

(My brother is currently doing the same job with the same qualifications in NZ)

Right. Well I'll bow out and leave it with you. However, that is still not how NZIS works as many have found.

You must match like for like.

So. In the interest of sharing, which is what this forum is all about, perhaps full disclosure would be helpful to others
