WTR 9MTH VISA, EWRB?

WTR 9MTH VISA, EWRB?
Hey,
Me and my partner have been in NZ now for 3mths, we have been really lucky so far, We both have good jobs based in Rotoura, within 6 weeks of us being here. I'm working as a Service Tech and my partner in a Bank, we are enjoying our new life style.
The company I am working for have already put me on a refresher training course with first aid.
We are on a 9mth WTR visa but this EWRB is concurning me as they only do 2 exams within the year which means If I was to fail in Sept would this mean we wont get residency? I feel the exam EWRB seems to be aiming towards Electricians where I have only achieved in the UK NVQ level 4 in Electrcial servicing?
I have already found out that many fail (EWRB) first time...
Have any yous been in this position and than can help, I dont wanna go back to the UK!
