wrong calulation oif points

hi guys

i have an confusion... i have 150 points according to me but after i submit my eoi lets say my points according to NZI are less then 150..(this is the worst case scenario as there is an area where im claiming points which im 60 % sure that i can claim...so just want to sure). will they decline my eoi or will continue working on it with less points... this is a matter of 10 points so even if this happen my points will be 140 and still qualify for automatic selection.

i know its sound really confusing what i just wrote but if someone can help that would be great...

thanks

As MrsF says-where do you think you'll lose the points?
My thoughts would be that if your EOI would get selected without those points then it should make no difference to the outcome. 140 or 150 points would mean an automatic selection anyway so you'd not be jumping the queue.

Worst case scenario is that they would send your EOI back to the pool and with 140 pts you'd get selected at the next draw:) Though can't see any justification for doing that and I'd be contacting NZIS if it was me-it's acceptable if you wouldn't have been selected that draw.

Re: wrong calulation oif points

hi guys thanks for ur time and suggestions.

here is how im confused in my points:

30 points for age/identity
50 points for level 7 qualification
50 points for skilled job offer(chef)
10 points for 2-4 years of work exp(actual exp is 3 yr)
total 140 points
same page where i put i claim 2-4 yr work exp points there is option if i want to claim points job in absolute skill shortage. which my job is and it ask me choose 2-6 yrs or more. mine is 3 years so i can claim it. but if i look at condition for job to considered as absolute skilled shortage i need at least 4 yr experience. my only confusion is if thats the case why the first option is 2-6 yr and not 4-6 yrs.

so im confused if i claim points and it has to be at least 4 years then my points will go from 150 to 140...

i hope this explain my confusion....

so what are your thoughts now !!!!

cheers

From the LTSSL

In order to claim bonus points for qualifications in an area of absolute skill shortage under the Skilled Migrant Category, applicants must meet the following specifications.
Either National Certificate in Hospitality (Professional Cookery) Level 4 OR National Certificate in Hospitality (Cookery) Level 4 OR a Level 5 Diploma (specialising in the area of professional cookery) AND A minimum of five years combined experience in establishments offering a la carte/banqueting or commercial catering, with a minimum of two years at Chef de Partie (Section Leader level or higher)
It looks like you need five years experience.

I wouldn't worry, you have 140 points which means an automatic selection:thumbsup:. The points amounts are set and do not take into account individual requirements. For instance my job is on the LTSSL and there is no minimum amount of work experience needed to claim bonus points [apart from needing over two years just to claim points]
If you claim those extra 10 points it will probably be picked up on checking your EOI or ITA but my first post applies then;)

Not quite, they reassess your points, then assess what would have happened given the criteria that were applied to your draw. So if you get reduced to 140 they proceed with your EOI as normal, no going back to the pool. If you get reduced to 130 and have a job offer AND they drew EOIs with job offers with >120pts in your draw then you still proceed etc.

:)That's what I was getting at in my first post. he would have been selected anyway so it would make no difference.
By 'worst case scenario' I was trying to get across the fact that dropping to 140pts is not a problem at all. I didn't expect NZIS to actually do this since he would have been selected anyway without those points.
I could have phrased it better-bit tired!:sneaky:
