working visa
Hi I have a friend here on a working visa (till June 3rd) and wishes to extend it. He has sent off for police checks in UK and is sorting medical out. But as these things take time is he allowed to stay in NZ once he has applied or must he stop working and leave the country if he has not got confirmation by June 3rd. Cheers if anyone can help.

Re: working visa
He should certainly stop working. He could remain on a visitors visa.
I'd suggest he make the trip to Christchurch to renew his work permit . |

It's possible, but he had better be there when the doors open. It'd be better to be armed with any possible documentation that he may need. NZIS offices are in the Crystal Arcade next to Cathedral Square. Look for the Blah Blah Internet shop across from the giant chessboard. NZIS is next to the internet shop.
