Default Working hours and holidays?

Hi,

I know it's a bit of a general question but just wondering what the work hours would be for a welder. I've had a look an a few jobsite but they never mention what hours/holiday allowance is.

Thanks,

jim

Not definite but the working week is 40 hours and holiday entitlement is usually 20 days.

It will be the 40 hour week.

Depending on the company it will be 20 days hols and 5 days sick after one year.
It can be that the firm shuts down over the Xmas/New Year period in which case 2 of those weeks must be taken then.

oohh no, boss is a bully and has taken 5 years to get up to salary level he left UK at.
For us the move has reduced our standard of living from what we had in the UK.

LOL of course you would because good old Kiwitopia prevails and everything in NZ is awesome; not a hint of negativity or real life struggles must ever leave these shores.

Yeah generally a 40hr week with 4 weeks paid holiday which I think is statutory for full time workers ?
I'm lucky in that I normally get 5 weeks paid because I'm a shift worker......and ironically, I get more time off in between shifts!!! Every 5th year of service we get an extra week to take that year. We can also purchase another week of leave every year as Lifestyle leave and that costs 40 x single time rate which is paid out from salary over the year as a tiny reduction in pay each fortnight. We also accrue shift leave plus a fair few other days like a recreation day, a volunteer day, a corporate day off plus 10 days sick. I'm having 5 weeks off early Jan with my mum visiting and haven't booked any annual leave off - it's all shift leave that I've accrued and will still have over 110hrs annual leave to take. Majority of the leave also rolls over.

Many companies close up shop for 2 weeks over Christmas and it will be mandatory for employees to have the normal working days off as annual leave, however since there's a few public holidays over Christmas/New Year and combined with weekends in there you'll generally only have to book maybe 4 or 5 days max to cover the full period, NOT 2 weeks.
