Working Holiday Visa - Medical Insurance
 

Hi Guys

I am making the move to Auckland on Wednesday and just trying to wrap up the last few bits before I head to NZ. Can anyone advise of the medical insure required for the NZ working holiday visa?

If anyone has any links or advise on what is required for the insurance that would be great as I don't have a clue here.

I don't think there is a requirement for you to be insured but as you are not covered by the public health system it would be extremely sensible of you to fork out for insurance. ACC is all well and good if you get hit by a bus but if you end up in hospital for any other reason it could get exxy beyond urgent care.

So try this: Health Insurance for Non-Residents and NZ Visitors - SmartStay Plans | Accuro it's what I used and now I am on their more typical resident plan.

Like LauraNotts said, I don't think its a mandatory requirement for the WHV, but it would be a good idea to take out medical insurance for the duration of the visa...just encase!

We used Alpha Travel Insurance and took out the Alpha 250 Longstay policy, which will cover us for emergencies should they ever happen! They were also very reasonably priced, at least compared to other long time travel insurance companies.
