Default work permits

Hi not sure what to do. Son in law looks like he might lose his job, he is on a work permit, whats happens to him, will he have to go back to Uk or can he stay here.

I'm not 100% sure but I think once the job ends (the one named on the permit) he has to leave.

You could always call NZ Immigration on 09 914 4100 (option 6 - press it as soon as they start giving you options as she speaks slowly) and ask them - they've always been extremely helpful when I've needed to call them

hi thanks for that will get him to call them. We are ok cos my husband is losing his job next week but we got residency

No worries. What a sad situation How long have you had your residency? Could you sponsor him to stay? That is if you're eligible to.

Hi thanks Michelle I'm sure we've spoken before, we've been here for 2 1/2 years daughter and son in law 1 yr. My husband Rob has also just started a heat pump business, but there is not enough work to earn a living from yet. It will take a while to get it running as a full time business
