Work Holiday Visas
Im planning on moving to NZ to be with my girlfriend who is a Kiwi in about 3 months. Im graduating with a bachelors in Environmental Science and policy in 3 weeks and would like to attain a career in my field in Auckland. Im an American citizen and am planning on getting the WHV which lasts for 12 months. Ive herd a mix of things about the visa. Am I aloud to get any job I want? The visa says no 'permanent' work... I know that im not aloud to work over 12 months but can I get jobs with actual employers. or will some companies deny me because I don't have a 'permanent' work visa?

Re: Work Holiday Visas
I only have experience of the UK WHV but I would think the rules are similar, that you can work in any type of job for your 12 months.
Of course this may limit your employment options as this is only a temp visa. ;) |
Re: Work Holiday Visas
Eric, you are over thinking the possabilites. Yes having a WHV, restricts you to 12 months employment. But if you are successful if securing a job, it is a straight forward process to obtaining a "proper" work visa. The WHV means you can start immediately, leaving you heaps of time to process the work visa.
Any smart employer will see this as well. BTW it is spelt allowed. :) |
