Default Work holiday visa

Hello,

I have a question on the limitations of a work holiday visa. Myself and my partner are both experienced professionals (electrical engineer and architect), wishing to live and work in New Zealand for a year - with the outlook of potentially changing the visa once there to allow us to stay another few years - all been well!

Although we want to explore NZ, would a work holiday visa allow us to work full time and bring our pet over from the UK, Rent a property etc

I note on the immigration site it states we can only accept temporary jobs - I would have thought working in our professions in NZ till the end of our visa would be okay? We just want to make sure we do it properly and not have to worry about been on the wrong visa.

To emphasise, we only want to spend a year to 3 years in NZ so other visas would not be appropriate - I would imagine.

Any feedback much appreciated.

Thanks
Pam

to work in those fields you would need to have your qualifications accessed to be able to get any other visa than a WHV, which obviously comes with further costs
