whv and beyond?
Hi guys
I am considering moving to NZ, but I am going to go there on a whv with my misses so we can get employment (im a chemist shes a teacher), what happens if I get a job and achieve permenant residence , would my misses have to leave the country after the year is up or could she stay as my spouse (or vice versa), we have lived together for 2 years, threrfore does this count as defacto married?
I really don't want to be in the situation where one of us can get work and other can't then they have to go home it isnt a option.

I think both of you will have to get your whv independantely, but after that you will be able to include your partner in any PR application you submit.

Re: whv and beyond?
well I have sort of bumped this back to the top,
has anyone done the WHV to permenant visa while in AUS?
would like to see if it is possible to do this and how much of a risk is it. hopefully my misses woun't be messed around because she is a teacher.

I'm also looking at going WHV to PR - my partner and I can't prove we've been living together for 12 months on paper so that's the way it's got to be. You could try asking an immigration specialist what they can do to help you, but you don't then have to use their services ;-)
