Default When is the summer 'shutdown'?

Hi everyone.
Please can you tell me, when is the long summer holiday for NZ i.e. all of December and most of January, or half December and all January etc?

I am looking to get a job offer lined up, but am conscious that a lot of businesses will be running slowly over the holiday period, and want to get the timing right!

Also, when do the kids go back to school? Early or mid-January?

Thanks,
Jane

Hi Jane

I can't speak from experience but the schools go back on 7 Feb. I was advised that late Jan/early Feb is a good time to job hunt, as people make new years resolutions about changing jobs, and company budget changes kick in about this time.

Most get back on the treadmill by the third week of January. Not all, but most.

The summer shutdown seems to last for ages when you've not got a job! :curse:

From experience if you're not in work by about mid-November, you'll struggle to get into a role much before mid to end Feb. If it's not the recruitment agent on holiday then it's the interviewer or whoever has to sign off the role...
