We submitted our ITA a week ago and have recieved a letter stating it will be 4 months before the application is looked at (we dont have a job offer yet) my husband has applied for overseas work and we now need his passport number for the application.

We sent originals not realising we would need his passport details for the job application. So how soon are the documents sent back? (we sent an SAE) Or should we contact them asking to return his passport?

We got our stuff back the next day. This was at the Christchurch office. You should contact them and explain to them your circumstances. It should be no problem.

We are in the same boat, sent all original documents to New Zealand house, London, no job offer so therefore a lonnnggg wait till we get a case officer.

From my understanding, when your application has completely been processed (i.e. they decide for/against residency), do you get everything back.

However, you can request your passports back now .. but you'll have to return them in order to get the blue stickers!

Thanks, I emailed the immigration department and recieved a response within 1 hour stating that our passports would be returned that afternoon via special delivery. Very impressed!! If only the processing time was this efficient!!
