Whats the maximum age to get any Points for NZ

Hi,
I know when applying for a skilled migrant visa to Australia the maximum age to get any points is 45.

But is that the same to New Zealand?

Me 41 and my partner 45 both only got to 55 points for a skilled migrant visa to move to Australia.

She got No points for her age, but is that different for NZ?

Thanks :-)

Hello!
The maximum age for a principal candidate to apply to NZ for residency under the skilled migrant category is 55.

Basically only one half applies and the other partner is the non principal candidate. The principal candidate accrues all the points including age. The non principal candidate can only add on points for a qualification or a job offer, that's all.

I know nothing about applying to Aus, best thing is to look at it as a completely different system (which it is:))

There is a sliding scale:

30 points: 20-29 years
25 points: 30-39 years
20 points: 40-44 years
10 points: 45-49 years
5 points: 50-55 years.

This is a link to the Points Tables: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ts/default.htm
Have you looked at the points indicator on the NZ immi website yet, that gives you an idea of how many you score. I don't know how the Aus system works so cannot tell you where they differ.

Get back to us with any questions. After 55 you cannot apply at all (unless you are the non principal candidate). You're a long way off that though!

The site I linked to is the official NZ immigration site-everything is on there! It can be a bit of a maze at times though;)

Bear in mind that you're looking at a different country so you need to go back to first principles when it comes to looking at immigration:)

Thanks Persephone

We was looking at Australia at first as a couple of people said it was too difficult to get into NZ so we did not try.

have a look at my first post in the australia visa section on this forum: whats the maximum age for Visa 189

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=829855

It shows the points system and how we just missed it.

But it looks like the points system for NZ is better structured and more forgiving on Age
