if she has an 11 year old daughter to come over with too?(single parent)

My sister is taking her IELTS next week and then will go for Nursing registration after that. She'll then be in a position to apply for a job hopefully at North Shore hospital (has been looking at their website already & has made contact with their HR but hasnt discussed any visa strategy yet)

If she was flying solo i guess she'd just initially get a work visa and then eventually go for PR. However as she has a daughter and wants her to go to school (and doesnt want to pay however much money it is if you are treated as an overseas student) - what options does she have and if she can go for PR straight off does that mean the process could take longer ....meaning that the potential job could not materialise.

cheers

If your sister gains a job offer then she would probably go for the temp work visa to get her in and started. Her daughter would need a student visa. She may have to explain how she will hold down a full time position with an 11 year old in tow. In this case she has the back up of family already living in NZ.

Being already in NZ would strengthen any PR application for her and her daughter. Although it is the more costly way to go.

there must be another way of doing this. Having to pay for a student visa for an 11 year old would be impractical. Anybody would think there are no school donations or fundraisers to consider

Its going to be hard enough for her as a single parent. She will be staying with me of course while she gets settled and starts saving

Any other info greatly appreciated. Looking at any experiences of a similiar vain.

Eh? I'm confused now. The 11 year old needs a valid NZ visa to be here and at school. So if Mum has a temp working visa then the student visa is the visa for the 11 year old. Rather like the family visa is needed for a partner of a main applicant. The cost of the visa application seems to currently be GBP 125.

Otherwise she applies for PR and awaits the outcome. What points has she got.

edit.... a student visa on the back of a temp work visa doesn't mean international fees. Is that what you are thinking?

UUmm.

Not sure what you mean. Is the student visa at GBP 125 not OK then? The child can go to school. End of.

All will be well then. Your sis will apply for a temp work visa. Her child will apply for a student visa. One goes with the other. There are no international fees involved .

Or, of course, she & child could go for PR straight off with the job offer in place. THat could take a wee while longer as you know but is less money on NZIS fees. Depends how long the employer will wait for her.

The Waitemata District Health Board is on the list of accredited employers, so once she gets an offer she could get a Work to Residence (Talent) Visa, which would automatically give residence after two years or she can apply for residence in the interim. This would automatically give residence rights to dependants as well as the main applicant i.e. no school, health etc fees.

Ah . So I gather that covers North Shore Hospital. They can do the WTR and then make an early application for PR. Home dry for Zara's aunty and cousin then.

I thought NZ was your home Zaras Dad.
Seems that anything I have written here to help with the query has not been well received for some reason. Not even reassurance.

All the best for your future application Trish M.
