We were also asked for character references when applying for our visas. Once you get your visa it is worth bringing in your hand luggage mortgage statements to show you paid your mortgage regularly, proof of no claims from car insurance, evidence of childrens immunisations as some schools will ask for this. It is also worth bringing photocopies of birth certificate / passports (once you get your stickeres) as you need things like that to get IRD numbers, open bank accounts, children's school etc so it may be worth gathering some of that info now too. Also think about currency transfer accounts as they can take several weeks to set up and you need copies of various things to set one up. You also need loads of passport photos for everyone applying.
Good luck:)

Proof of partnership!

Marriage certifcate, or if you are "living in sin", bills in your names with the same address, photo's, passport stamps, anything that will prove you have been together for at least two years.

Worth remembering that NZIS will only accept original or certified copies of any documents you provide.

As I understand, they can only be certified by a lawyer, magistrate or M.P

All originals must have a photocopy behind.

They will not accept any emails or fax copies, worth remembering especially for any job offer you receive.

BIRTH CERTIFICATES MUST BE IN FULL i.e show your parents details.
