What are my chances?
Hi All
Our only child has permanent residency in NZ and we would like to join him at some point. However, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago, underwent surgery and radiotherapy and at the moment I'm cancer free and hope it stays that way.
Because of this, what are our chances of joining our son - we intend to apply once the parent visa category reopens.
Many thanks
Suey

Re: What are my chances?
My understanding is that medical referrals are on a case to case basis so even though someone on here may have had the same medical issues and been allocated a visa does not mean another person will.
here is the link for Acceptable Standard of Health

The only way to know unfortunately is apply, pay your money and go through the process

Down to brass tacks here. Much would depend on the prognosis & I would start lining up your ducks .
You need comprehensive consultants and specialists reports that can ensure this cancer will not reoccur or have a very slim chance of returning.
A two year remission is a good start.
