Default Wanting to move to NZ from U.S.A

Hello, I currently live in the states and would like to move to NZ. I have a wife and 3 kids and own my plumbing business. How do I get recognized in NZ as a plumber? I recently met a friend from there and his uncle owns a plumbing business. I think this will help with my E.O.I. Where do I go to findd out some info for NZ plumbers and their qualifications?

Kia Ora from a plumber's wife.

I'm not sure what you already know of the NZ immigration process so I will give you a few links.

One is for the PGDB - Plumber, Gasfitter and Drainlayers Board of New Zealand.

This is about having your overseas qualifications and work exp assessed by the PGDB. HERE Download the assessment form

Here you can find out about immigration under the NZIS skilled migrant category.

Here is a link to the New Zealand Immigration Service ( NZIS ) points indicator.

Have a look at those to start with and come back with any questions.

When doing the points indicator, please note that Plumber is not in absolute shortage at the moment .

Ok, So what is the best way to go about importing a wife and 3 kids? Currently in the US I own my plumbing business. I checked to see how hard it would be to get recognized in NZ. Very costly, I figured out. But on the other hand I am attending a 2yr college for a Information system specialist. I still have a long way to go on that. Does NZ have colleges like the US that allow adults to attend and get degrees? If so then it would make more sense to continue over there so I could automatically be recognized. A job is my main concern. Should I go over and work for a few months as a plumber( assuming my contact will hire me) so I can aquire more points? My friend is a "sparky" and some of his family are in the construction business. I asked how business was and he said that NZ did not get hit like the US. Can someone eloborate on this? Also, how much do plumbers make? I built my own house in the US and I'm trying to finish it now that its warm here. That's my biggest concern right now.
