Which Visa
Hi All
Just found this forum looking thought the web and looks great. Loads of great info here. Just wondered whenther anyone had any advice on our situation.
Myself and my wife are looking at emigrating to NZ by at the very latest 2011. Also depending on job situations here it could be sooner.
We have a 5 month old son who will obviously be coming with us.
One of the main things we wanted to get some advice or opinions on EOI's and just any general advice on our situation e.g. what type of visa to go for.
I am 38 and my wife is 32.
My wife has a degree in design (BA Hons) and has worked for the last 8 years designing and developing homes wares and lighting for the retail industry working with some of the largest retail homeware retailers in the UK. Her main concern was whether there was this sort of requirement in NZ as she had not been able to find anything relating to that area. She has worked extensivley in China developing products with factories and her designs/products have recently been sold in Aus via an importer.
She was wondering whether it might be better to set up her own company to supply/import design led products to the NZ market or something along the design lines e.g. Interior design, room/set design.
I have worked in the casino IT industry for the last 8 years mainly developing casino IT systems. Most recently I have worked as a systems manager/project manager and developer for a newly opened casino managing it/cctv installation and also managing some construction work.
I don't have any formal qualifications in IT just the years of experience and references.
I do have an NVQ II floorlaying as this is what I did before moving into IT and alos general building skills.
I am also currently working towards a NVQ II Plumbing (mainly because I got sick of being ripped off by plumbers). This should be completed in the next 12 months. I understand if I was wanting to use this I would have to go for level 3 (which I was planning anyway) and be time served.
We have savings and also equity in our house which we would sell to move over to NZ.
Thanks
Gary
