UK Police Check whilst in NZ
 

Hi there,

We're in the process of sponsoring my husband's parents as part of the Family Category and we've discovered he needs a UK police check for the submission.

How do we organise one of those from NZ? It's been so long since we did his last police check (2003), that I don't know where to even start!

Instructions and cost would be appreciated :thumbsup:

Mine cost 10 quid - think that's pretty standard throughout the UK. You need to visit your previous local police force website and search for the police check. (It's not actually called this - it's something like Statement from the UK Data Protection Act - you can find what it's called on the NZIS website).

You need to download a form and send off with two forms of ID and a cheque. Best send by registered post as you're sending passport, driving licence or similar. Once they've received it they send you documents back pretty much straight away though the acual police check can take up to 40 days + delivery time to get back. (Unfortunately you can't request it online).

If he's still in the UK best for him to pop into the local police station with his orginal documents and form as this will speed things up.

Try New Scotland Yard. Seem to remember someone on here saying all police checks are done from their (central office) and I know ours came back from there when we had ours done last May. They may have a website with some information on about it.

Still is £10...apply for it from the local police force, from where you last lived in England.
Taking about 40 days at the moment!
