UK passport due to expire... Transferring visa and how to?

Hi there

Im a UK citizen from the UK. I'm now living in New Zealand on a skilled migrant visa. My visa is stamped on an official page into my UK passport. My UK passport is coming up to expire. I just wondered what I need to do to update my UK passport to get a new one when here in New Zealand and how to get my visa issued into the new passport?
Thanks very much in advance!

Once you have your new British passport there is just a bit of paperwork to take care of at the NZ end to link your visa to your new passport.

Hey thanks guys for help. I'm just wondering about once I get my new passport and then need to sort the visa transfer to my new passport.... I have been looking on the immigration website and it seems the processing office I must send my new passport off too is based in the UK. Would this make sense? Hope you can help. Thank you.

No, not at all. The receiving centre will be your nearest local branch office Wellington, Auckland, or Christchurch

Also, check to see if your visa transfer can be done electronically - i.e. it is attached to your passport electronically without the need of a physical sticker. I believe Immigration are offering this service nowadays for a small number of visas meaning you don't have to pay the ridiculous processing fee to transfer a visa sticker in to a new passport.

They have ditched the stickers and only issue e-visas now,

Nope.
You can have a visa label stickered in your passport if you so wish - in return for $110.
eVisa's are now available for all visa types and the transfer of any eVisa to a replacement passport is free of application and levy fees. You can also transfer from a stickered visa to an eVisa free of application and levy fees.

And in my experience Virgin Australia seem to have no electronic access to visa status so to get back from Oz they check the sticker...
