UK partner entering NZ before NZ partner arrives?
Has anyone been in this situation before? My UK partner's visa (Partner of NZ citizen temporary work visa) arrived today, taking us completely by surprise with how fast it was processed - 5 days!!!!
We genuinely thought it would take at least 2 months, and then we'd have to give notice at work and that's a justified reason to delay our departure. But now we're faced with him needing to get out there to start the job that has been held for him for several months, but our cat isn't ready to fly yet and I have some other commitments in May... So our question is, given we stated on the application form that we would be travelling together, is there any leeway on this and could he arrive 2 months before I do to get started at work (and find us somewhere to live!?) Would really appreciate hearing from anyone else who might have been in this position, otherwise will have to speak to an immigration consultant tomorrow! |
Re: UK partner entering NZ before NZ partner arrives?
Really, you should talk to NZ Immy direct about this.
A pet shipper is able to look after your cat until ready to fly. Could someone else take care of your other commitments as it is better you arrive together. Saves the immy officer at the gate a whole lot of confusion when they check the visa records. |

I agree call Immigration direct and ask them.
or maybe you could fly out with him for a week to show him how things are done, like weighing your own veg and supermarkets not packing for you. Help set up bank account and IRD number etc. Unless of course this has been covered. |

Different visas could be different but I know with a residency visa it doesn't matter entering separately
