Taurunga Hospital

:)Hiya all, are there any nurses over there that have worked or are currently working in Tauranga Hospital ? I trained in large teaching hospitals but currently work in a smaller district hospital that is still in the 1980`s ( haha ). I am hoping to emigrate to the surrounding area and that is the hospital I am looking at ( unless anyone can recommend anywhere else ) ?

Thanx Jaks:thumbup:

HI Jaks!

Will be following your thread!! Am hoping to move out to your area in the near future - am starting the process soon after deciding between Aus and NZ.

Am a RN working in a small hospital but think it sounds more modern than yours!
Have you heard what the health service is like in NZ at all? Some people tell me its a little behind the UK?!

Good luck with your moving.

Hi Jaks,

I can't really comment at the moment what Tauranga Hospital is like...although I actually start work there on Monday, so I will keep you updated as to what it's like!
We arrived just over a week ago & have found it to be brilliant! No complaints so far! If you decide to move to this area, then you won't go far wrong!!

:thumbup:Hiya Cheryl, thanks for your reply. I would be really grateful if you could keep in touch and let me know how the hospital is and life out there in general . We are off to the expo show in b`ham next month and are just in the process of getting started. Hope you dont mind me asking but how lond did the process take you to get out there and also did you gain employment through a nursing agency or with Taurunga Hosp direct ? I have noticed they are advertising surgical jobs which is my current field. What do you feel is the least expensive way of emigrating either with an agency of by doing it all yourself ?

Congratulations on your job, and making it out there.

Jaks

Hi Jaks,

Check out my timeline in my signature...that will tell you how long the whole process took.
I got my job offer through an agency called Tonix...they were brilliant...and they were free...which is a bonus!
Everything else we did on our own, with the help of the internet and the lovely people on here! If you get a relocation agent, all that will happen is you paid them 1000's to do the work that you can quite easily do yourself! If we can do it...anyone can!
We never even went to an expo...we visited NZ last April, decided that that was where we wanted to live & just went ahead with the applications! Sounds simple, doesn't it?
It is easy enough...it's the waiting around for things that is frustrating...it's not particularly difficult, just a bit of a bind...but there is a fantastic light at the end of tunnel!
The first thing I would recommend is to get your nursing registration sorted...just go to the nursing council of new zealand's web site & download an application form.
Also, if you have a house to sell, put it on the market asap...if it sells before you're ready to go, then move into rented accom, or a friends or family...but try & sort it before you go! We've still got a house in the UK that's up for sale & rent still...it's now in the hands of the estate agent! O well, I'm sure it'll sell one day!

Good luck, Cheryl x
