student visa to pr?

hi
has anyone been to nz on a student visa , gained work experience and stayed on to gain pr?
It seems popular in Aus with trade courses.
Anyone done it in nz?

I know that you would get extra points on your expression of interest if you have a New Zealand tertiary qualification.
