Speeding up Partner Work Visa submission and avoid some costs
The online Visa application gives you four options for duration of your stay in NZ. I’ve been playing with it and noticed that if I change it to 12 months or less, it considerably reduces the docunentation requirements and removes the need for the medical & X-Ray. Does anyone know whether this is optional or would it be seen as decente seeing tthat I am applying for permanent employment? Backgrounf: My husband and I have been together for 6 years We land on 31 January Job prospects are looking promising so far! Thank you in advance |
Re: Speeding up Partner Work Visa submission and avoid some costs
it will cost more in the long run as you will need to do the medicals if you then want to extend your stay for more than 12 months. if you get a job offer that does allow you to submit a application and you are then approved you could go for a temp visa and then start the more permanent visa whilst on the temp visa.

Applying for a one year work visa / permit is perfectly fine. It is often suggested by NZIS to do this as an interim measure & in fact has just been suggested to a couple I know here. She will apply for the one year work visa to allow her to work. She will also be applying for NZ residency via the family/partner stream. HTH |
