So how much did your move cost you?
 

My husband is in IT, and we are not planning on moving to NZ unless he gets a job.

We rent here in the UK, so no equity to bank on... how much will this whole move cost us? We are happy to make the move with a suitcase each, thus cutting the costs of shipping, and after looking around at a few estate agents, we're hopeful in finding a partially furnished house, at least.

I just wanted a realistic figure. Emigrating on the cheap! What did it cost you?

ETA: We're a family of 5 -- three kids under 6.

Hiya

We managed to do the whole thing, house contents, dog and one way flights (going with Air New Zealand economy plus) for just over £10,000. That was 2 adults and 2 kids. The cost also covered the dogs 30 day kennel and vets fees.

You will find you and especially the kids will settle better if you have your own things around you. Especially the kids with their toys and favourite things.

Totally agree with Catkin, when your container arrives, oh they joy you feel is, well I can't put it into words. You are no longer surrounded by the unfamiliar.
We are 4 adults and it cost around the same.
