SMC without IPENZ letter?
Hi all,
Engineering professional, happily and gainfully employed as the senior engineer (mechanical engineer) for a business here in NZ. Working through the EOI process again (after a failed attempt last year, pre IQA results being obtained...a slight misunderstanding) I am a little confused at one area. Details are: Mechanical engineer 180+ points claimed under - Skilled employment / high renumeration / recognised qual / skilled work experience...etc Crucially - I am NOT claiming LTSSL bonus points for my skills or work experience. Reason being, is that it appears this sends me down a route requiring a "knowledge assessment"/KA02 process from IPENZ/NZ engineering to supplement my IQA. At $1350 and alot of time/effort - thats something I would prefer to avoid. As i dont need the points this will give me, it would be excellent to avoid the extra cost.. Is this likely to be a problem, will my case officer insist on me meeting the LTSSL requirements to claim points for skilled employment, or similar? Your help would be most appreciated. Edd |
Re: SMC without IPENZ letter?
You have to claim/prove the points you claim to have on your EOI. They won't make you prove additional stuff if you don't claim it. I used a lesser qualification than my degree as it was nz matched so didn't need all the hassle and expense of getting it all checked. Just claim the bare minimum you need

Re: SMC without IPENZ letter?
Nah won't be any detriment to your application. Why make it more complicated than it needs to be.
