Silver Fern Update
 

I know I've asked this question before, but has anyone heard any updates concerning the implementation of the Silver Fern Visa? It is the main component of the new government's manifesto, I was just wondering has anyone heard anything new from "ground" level?

I have just asked the Immigration New Zealand Online Help facility when the Silver Fern Visa will be launched ..... This was the reply:

Dear J'

Thank you for taking advantage of our Online Help facility.

No there is no plans for this visa currently.

This was only in discussion during the last election and nothing solid has come of it yet.

Thanks for that, I would expect the authorities to play safe. The effort though, is much appreciated.

Thanks for the above. Just one thing, if you are applying from outside New Zealand, does the applicant have to be from a "visa free" country? I only ask because if that is the case, it will help a lot of people out on here.
